Greenberg Traurig's Rodney Moore Prepares for National Bar Association Presidency

July 31, 2008

International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced today that Rodney G. Moore, Of Counsel in its Atlanta office, will be sworn in as President of the National Bar Association on Friday, August 1, 2008, at the National Bar Association's 83rd Annual Convention in Houston, Texas. Moore was elected President for the 2008-2009 term and is the first Georgia lawyer elected to serve as President of the National Bar Association (NBA) in its 82-year history.   The NBA first organized in 1925, has a network of 45,000 members representing African-American members of the bar who are lawyers, judges, law professors and law students. The organization seeks to advance the science of jurisprudence, preserve the independence of the judiciary and to uphold the honor and integrity of the legal profession.   "We congratulate Rodney on this outstanding accomplishment," said Ernest L. Greer, Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig's Atlanta office. "It is a solid example of the power of commitment and vision -- Rodney's, the NBA's and Greenberg Traurig's."

Moore has been involved with the NBA for more than 20 years, previously serving two terms as General Counsel and as Vice President for both Sections & Divisions and Regions & Affiliates.  He chaired the NBA's International Meetings with International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda War Crimes for which the NBA awarded him a Special Award of Merit.  "On behalf of Greenberg Traurig, we wish Rodney much success during his tenure as the National Bar Association's President," said Cesar Alvarez, CEO of Greenberg Traurig LLP. "Greenberg Traurig has created an environment where any attorney or staff member can excel within the firm and through professional and personal endeavors. We are confident Rodney will foster these same qualities within the NBA."

Moore, who was recently recognized by The National Law Journal as one of the "50 Most Influential Minority Lawyers in America," focuses his practice on representing Fortune 500 companies in Litigation, Labor & Employment and Media & Entertainment. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Moore was General Counsel for the Atlanta Public Schools from 2000-2005. In addition to his work with the National Bar Association, Moore is a member of  Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, 100 Black Men of America (Atlanta) and has served in leadership positions on the National School Board Association (Council of School Attorneys), the Board of Visitors and Alumni Board for Santa Clara University School of Law and the San Jose Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as Trustee for the Santa Clara County Bar Association. Moore has been recognized by his peers in the legal profession as one of the Best Lawyers in America in 2007 and 2008, as well receiving the "Loren Miller Statewide California Attorney of the Year" in 1997. Moore received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Certificate of Recognition from the California Legislature Assembly in 1994.
