July 7, 2008
Grainger, a leading distributor of facilities maintenance supplies, has created a 12-page Hurricane
Preparedness Guide and launched a dedicated Website at
http://www.grainger.com/hurricane
to help businesses and institutions prepare in advance of a hurricane. By preparing for
emergencies and disasters, businesses can help ensure they have the right product at the right time
which will help mitigate business risks and costs of injury, downtime, and legal claims.
"Through the Hurricane Preparedness guide, Grainger helps customers prepare for a disaster
before it strikes," said Don Scheibenreif, VP Strategic Marketing, Grainger. "The guide
highlights vital steps to help businesses safeguard their assets and maintain efficient operations
during an emergency."
Researchers are predicting an above-average hurricane season for 2008, increasing the
importance of hurricane preparedness. This year is forecasted to see 13 named storms, seven
hurricanes, three intense hurricanes, and a 60 percent chance of a major hurricane making landfall
on the U.S. Coastline.
The 2008 Hurricane Preparedness Guide has checklists, product solutions and guidelines for
taking action ahead of time to minimize damage. To request a free copy of the guide (available in
